Thoughts and Tips to help pass over the puddles of life

Born Again Each Morning

Each morning we are born again. What we do today is what matters most. -Buddha
This saying from Buddha can help in the pursuit of a stress free (or at least minimized) lifestyle.
If each day we are born again then also each day we start with nothing to trouble us. I come to this conclusion because the concept of being “re-born”, as suggested by the Buddha’s saying, is often connected to purity. When a human being is born they are free  and unfamiliar with the sometimes conditioning of the world and Human Society. Someone who is newly born is innocent.
Now, the same human being can not be physically born every single day. It is possible to be mentally re-born, however. Each day when anyone wakes up there is a liminal space of time when the person thinks neither negatively or positively. It is that moment of time when we have all been re-born mentally. In this moment is the possibility to either forget the stresses of the day before or to take them on again. It is when we take the familiar stress of the day before back into ourselves that the stress gains power and builds.
A little stress during a day is good for us because it makes us think and challenges us. However, when stressed is dragged on from day to day and more stress is simply piled on top, instead of exchanged, it all becomes far too much for humans to handle. That little grain of irritating sand has become a desert.
If we instead choose at the moment of mental re-birth to let go of the troubles of the day before, then there would be no accumulation. The day would start out smoothly with us able to give our full attention to the present moment and  we are enabled to resolve or work through whatever stresses immediately cross our paths.
So, this morning I think I will choose to be born again. How about you?
